1: the circumstances, objects, or conditions by which one is surrounded
 
2 a: the complex of physical, chemical, and biotic factors (as climate, soil, and living things) that act upon an organism or an ecological community and ultimately determine its form and survival
 
b: the aggregate of social and cultural conditions that influence the life of an individual or community
 
Be it the environment of our homes, neighborhoods, workplaces, schools parks, or natural spaces, environment is important to us all. It is a reflection of our values and commitments and integrity. Our environment inspires us, or degrades and depresses us. It reflects whether or not we care for ourselves and each other. It reflects whether we respect life or only our own selfish interests.
 
The environment that we create together reflects our inner being, both as individuals and as a global society. Our environments can  uplifts us, inspires us, or can takes us to the lowest depths of our despairs.
 
The League is committed to the encouragement of protection and enhancement of the entirety of our shared human and natural resources and environments, of this, our mutual home, the home both of ourselves and home to all that is living.
